Gabe hosted an excellent bachelor party. Lots of fun (with some videos) was had by all (Jared make sure to send me the videos if you ever extract them from your cell phone and I'll post them here). Also, there's now hot and cold running water, a shower, and a new filter installed, and lots of trash has been cleaned up. This season sees a cabin renaissance!

Dad and I went up and did some work: put some flashing over the new posts and started to backfill the ditch from the foundation work. Also did some more plumbing with an eye towards getting hot water running (picked up a new, instant heat, electric water heater for the purpose). All went well until we turned on the water and found out the hard way that some of our soldering had melted one of our plastic couplings! We worked around it though, and left Rob, Jessica & co. with running cold water at least.

The Aug. 4th-6th work weekend was a big success thanks to all the hard work put in by everyone. The well is pumping water, the rear of the cabin has been levelled, and much conduit and water pipe has been laid. You can see some pictures of the work here.

Big thanks go out to (in order of appearance) Luke, John, Manny, Bill, Vicki, Chuck, Kay, Rob, Dom, Gabe, and Jared.

A non-working party is planned for Labor Day weekend, Sept. 2nd-4th. If you plan on coming, let me know. Weather permitting, we'll probably head down to the beach for some football, volleyball, etc., wander the town of Mendocino, play some cards, and whatever else we can think of.

A work day is planned for the weekend of Aug. 5th. The plan is to do some plumbing and foundation work on the cabin. If all goes well, the kitchen will be level and the cabin will have hot and cold running water for the first time in years. Please let me know if you plan to come. Food and drink will be provided, of course.

Rick is a hero. He and his posse fixed the window, cleaned up the trash (apparently there was a ton) and did various other cleanups. Thanks a lot, Rick & friends!

Rick reports a broken window and general disarray. Apparently someone broke in. Filed a report with the Mendocino County Sheriff, they said they'll do occasional patrols of the area.
